Only in maths would a set of ideas started in the late 19th century be described as “new” 😀:

Asking ‘what are you depressed about?’ or ‘what are you anxious about?’ is like asking a diabetic ‘what are you diabetic about?’. This is not a rational thought process. It’s just being inexplicably screwed.

Disruptive idea: “as a service”, but the customer pays one single upfront price that amortises the expected cost of providing the service over its lifetime, and we control unexpected cost variance by delegating maintenance and consumables costs to the customer.

Bong One firework goes off outside. Brief pause. Sound of somebody nearby opening their patio doors and screaming FUCK YOUUUUUUU at unbelievable volume. And that's my Brexit report from Sandbach.

One question to ask university managements is why, if casualised employment is good for cleaners, teachers and administrators and the institution that hires them, it isn’t good for managers too.

Missing class because of your disability or illness is annoying and frustrating as hell. Announcing how you don't care about helping students catch up is very telling and makes you a non-ally. Asking us to rely on other students is simply not efficient and effective (cont'd)

Saw this on the outside of an escape room. What a curious definition of “academic intelligence” that doesn’t include these things! I guess they are defining “academic intelligence” as “knowing facts”, which I value in my students a lot less than the other stuff mentioned.

Cryptology is not about academic intelligence, it’s about being able to solve problems, riddles, and puzzles using teamwork and ingenuity.

We wonder about the next S curve. Sometimes, it looks like an accessory to the previous one. In 2000 or 2005 almost anyone would have said mobile was a PC accessory. Now PCs are smartphone accessories.
