    Ended up using an SI5351 module rather than a bare chip on a carrier due to a couple of issues. I figured out what was wrong in the end, but easier just to leave the module in place, it actually ended up saving a bit of space. Anyway, got the MC1496 receiver from SPRAT going.

    Had the parts to build a programmer to put the bootloader on ATmega 328s for quite a while. This afternoon I've built the programmer and successfully put the bootloader on a fresh chip. This is all to continue with N6QW MC1496 RX project.

    A bit more progress with the N6QW direct conversion receiver from SPRAT. I need to burn the bootloader to the ATmega328 and then load the sketch. I2C LCD is in the post along with a 3v3 regulator for the SI5351.

    Smoke tested my ugly N6QW DC receiver this evening. Still got to add a DDS VFO, but I'm receiving stuff using a sig gen as a LO.

    Hilltop 20 - I've swapped the mixers, now I have Philips SA612, the old ones were Signetics SA602. I've also swapped the op amp back to NE5532 from TL972. Will have to do another SOTA activation to test. In theory the modifications should not make a difference.

    Summited Pendle Hill G/SP-005 this morning in the dark at 0700. I activated on 20m with my MTR-3B, propagation was a bit weird with multi-path at times. Unfortunately no DX contacts but still 23 QSOs in the log (including one on 30m).

    So, if I buy a jacket from Go Outdoors, I have to also pay for membership to the discount scheme at £5/yr. However, if I buy the jacket at exactly the same price from Blacks, which is under the same company umbrella, I don't have to buy a membership, how does that work?

    Gave my HT20 a test drive on G/LD-052 Hutton Roof Crags this morning. I changed IF from 5.185 to 4.915MHz. Seems like I still have work to do, it's better but appears to need more gain. Oh, and the keyer hates me!

    Finished the 20m rig, working well. I used a 1SV149 varicap for frequency shift. (I'm saving my MV1662 and MVAM109 for now).
