Coolest house in America?
Conversation
It's definitely up there! I've been doing a deep dive on 's work over the last few weeks, & think he may be one of the country's most talented, but under appreciated, architects. His style is part Spanish revival, part Gaudi, part Santa Barbara, 100% remarkable!

And some sketches, because of course a project as cool as this has sketches that look like this!

Santa Barbara! Shelton is doing work like this all over the city! It's an incredibly beautiful, but restrictive place. If SB loosened up its zoning laws, it'd get far cheaper, and we could encourage more work just like this!

Surprisingly it's not - but the form is very similar! Completely new, ground up home (completed in 2006, I believe)

Exactly! Santa Barbara has some of the best new development/construction around, but it's so darned restrictive you can hardly do anything here. If codes were loosened up only a little bit, I have to think it'd become one of the most exciting places to live in America
