A few years ago I documented the many different translations of FFIV: Anyway, another new version of Final Fantasy IV is out today! The new translation seems to be based on the earlier PS1/GBA/PSP translations but with new edits/changes/fixes

EarthBound's original scripting files were lost 25 years ago, when they were deleted off of 's original floppy disk. Or were they? After a forensic analysis, these files were recovered, revealing brand new secrets about the game.

When Demi started his project I was too busy to help as I was a few years into my new career, but I was glad to see the game getting translated. I've actually only played like half an hour of it myself though :X Anyway here are two pics from my early 2001 hacking attempts

In 2001 I discovered FDC2 and loved it, so I started looking into hacking + translating it on my own, but the programming was WAY beyond my skill at the time. I dropped the project, but gave my notes + hacking files to Demi when he started his own project years later

The official Famicom Detective Club translations come out in a week! A lot of people credit me for the unofficial fan translation but that's not quite right, the patch was translated by Demi and Haeleth, see here for more details

(Anyway, time to vanish into my offline cave again, I'm working on a new mainline Legends of Localization book and the deadline for finishing it is approaching quickly)

For clarification, this new patch is almost entirely thanks to , the Italian MOTHER 3 fan translator who spent the last three years reprogramming the game, I didn't really do much besides look at birds

2020 has been the most challenging year of my life, as I expect it has been for many. In the midst of the darkness and difficulties, however, I had something happen, that by many people's standards might not seem like a big deal, but for me-- it made my year.

international shipping has been a huge disaster recently, largely due to politics and covid.. all the cheap rates/services are disappearing, so its frustrating to launch preorders for a CE and get so many desperate tweets from folks outside the US. we're sorry!! 😭

Here's how that language riddle in The Witcher 3 was translated into Japanese (the comments discuss other languages too)

Oh yeah, I also uploaded all of my translation tools + assembly code + C# source code + text files and whatnot, a ton of it can be used for other FFIV projects & translations You can get it on the same site:

In the last six months or so, 3 or 4 different people have started their own Tomato Adventure translation projects, which is cool to hear, but did something happen recently to generate new buzz for it?
