Nobody needs American tech companies like cloudflare, google, ibm, or cisco to provide dns to us. We can just run it locally -- far more private.

Ummm, how would running your own DNS be more private? How do think DNS servers get their answers?pic.twitter.com/szXTjxgoWP

I just destination-NAT 1.1.1.1 to my own DNS servers just like I’ve already done for 8.8.8.8, right?

1/ i think most people are easily encouraged to hate and fear their phone company. a shiny object like cloudflare off in the distance seems so much better, doesn't it? however, the right study topic is why you need 1.1.1.1 if you already had 8.8.8.8.
-
2/ that is, you might have a psy-ops reaction where you trust the devil you don't know more than the devil you do know -- but why trust cloudflare 1.1.1.1 more than you would google 8.8.8.8 or ibm 9.9.9.9? hint: Trust Nobody -- run your own DNS. EOM

My ISP has my identity, and has a business model for selling my activity to the higher bidder. (I used to work in telecom.) It's also the first place legal teams go. I'm not married to Cloudflare, they are just the first to provide DoH.
-
First was probably http://doh.crypto.sx even though it was using Cloudflare as a frontend.

Actually we announced our support for
#DoH last month! You can read about it on our blog:https://quad9.net/doh-quad9-dns-servers/ …
