Such a shame, you've created so many iconic moments in football and there will be millions who grew up with your voice watching football. All the best for the future.

Need to get him on sky sports to replace the god awful, soulless commentary that Martin Tyler provides. All the passion of a damp sponge.

Clive the broadcasters are phasing out the older talent, just look at the BBC they have not offered new deals to Alan Green, Mark Pougatch, Geoffrey Boycott etc
-
Alan Green is way past his best and his best was hopeless. Clive Tyldesley was tremendous on both radio and tv. In terms of creating and reflecting an atmosphere the near untouchables were Peter Jones and Bryon Butler on radio & David Coman & Brian Moore on tv. Clive is up there.

Kenneth Wolstenholme, Brian Moore, John Motson, Barry Davies, Clive Tyldesley; you are one of greats of football commentary, they can't take that away from you.
-
Tyldesley was OK, apart from his obsession with "that night in Barcelona", Davies was excellent and Moore as you say one of the greats of football commentary, but both Wolstenholme & Motson were absolutely shocking , particularly Motson.

"Manchester United are the Champions of Europe again and nobody will ever win a European Cup final more dramatically than this. Champions of Europe, Champions of England, the FA Cup holders, everything their hearts desire" . Icon of commentary and a disgrace of a decision
-
And then Liverpool & Istanbul wrote that piece of history off the face of earth

So saddened to hear these words, Clive. Like so many decisions taken by broadcast companies over recent months, it is not only baffling and bewildering but also almost an admission by them that standards don't matter any more. As one door closes for you, hopefully another opens.
-
This is sad news, Clive's voice described so many huge Liverpool games to us before live TV took over, when all we had was the radio -
@RadioCity967 for Clive - if we didn't have a ticket. His voice should be heard more, not less, and I'm sure other broadcasters will agree. - Show replies
