I think the wonderful thing about art is that ppl can have a range of opinions on what they like & don’t like but amid the discussion I hope we remember how indisputably brilliant Kehinde Wiley & Amy Sherald are as artists & how historic it was for them to paint these portraits

I love the paintings! Indicative of sophistication and a knowledge of contemporary art. Brillant!

I don’t really care about art that much - lol - but I loved the Obama’s speeches and miss them terribly .

Also: they were selected to paint the portraits by the subjects.

The artist did a magnificent job. I just wish Michelle facial features resembled her more. Congratulations to the Artists and the Obamas!! 🥇

I don't even want to have an opinion until I see the portraits in person. I'm always happy to see the Obamas, any where, any time. I'm delighted for the artists.

I like Wiley's a great deal. Sherald's isn't to my taste, but I can appreciate the artistic merit and I can understand why so many people love it. From a historical perspective, it's delightful that we're having this conversation. It's a beacon of hope in this season of backlash.

I know; it seems refreshing to even remember that artists are continuing to make art and that we can continue to enjoy it in these dark times.
