In a more just society we'd be paying home health care workers, nursing home staff, day care providers, & nurses exponentially more than we do now. We have a society that expects them to care for our most vulnerable, but doesn't pay them enough not to be vulnerable themselves.

Came here to say this! The companies that caregivers work for are frequently financially abusive. Those who sit in the office make more those those who are out there providing care. The work is long, the pay is minimal, & I've watched the on-call person calling caregivers 1/

And nannies/sitters! I laughed when he said $11/hr because it took me 10+ years to be offered even that. Finding people who properly compensate you for your time and skill set, taking care of their children!, is insanely difficult. It's really a business of taking advantage.

The value culture in society isnt based around care, wellbeing, or even quality living, it's based around time, money&energy. If your not saving or making 1 of those 3,then your not gonna earn much of those 3. I know its the improbable solution,but a cultural shift is in order.
