Went to Pt. Woronzof and can confirm that it is windy and very cold. Temp in upper single digits with sustained wind about 32 mph on my Kestrel handheld station with gusts to 50 mph. Wind is no match for tide though. Ice floes easily moving into the wind.pic.twitter.com/SQSxVuIZzL

Anchorage Airport's lowest wind chill on record appears to be a nippy -53F (-24F with a sustained 20mph wind) at 8am AKST on Jan 28, 1989.

The lowest instantaneous wind chill I recorded was -18F. A long way to go to -53F.

Oh I miss this- watching the ice come in and go out with the tides in Dillingham and then belugas in the spring.
