The wide range of "feels like" temperatures in the Upper Midwest is 20°F to 40°F greater than the normal of the previous 20 years.

The greatest range was 180°F at Litchfield, MN. Followed by Willmar, MN (179°F); Waseca, MN (177°F); and Fairmont, MN (174°F). @NWSTwinCities

The lowest range was 34.5°F at Honolulu, HI. Their peak heat index was 95.5°F and lowest temperature was 61°F (not cold enough for a wind chill).

In the Lower 48, the station with the lowest range in 2019 is North Island Naval Air Station near San Diego. Their range is 41°F. Given that their warmest time of year is later in the season, I expect this station's range to increase.

I love this map! When you get the chance, could you map out the range for coldest and hottest extremes ever recorded? Or do you already have one...

I've made those before. I don't recall when though. Use the Twitter advanced search to try and fine them. 😀

This is brilliant, but there needs to be a color for 170+ degrees so that we Minnesotans can passively aggressively assert our weather pain superiority.
