1. A food crisis already threatens a record number of people around the world with more than 1/3 of a billion at acute levels of hunger and nearly 50 million people on the brink of famine. Climate is just one factor. How often is this front page news?

3. Economic growth means 1.75/2.25°C by the 2030s/2040s/2050s looks more or less unavoidable. 1.5°C and rising implies a planetary catastrophe of (mass) extinction. Ecosystem collapse is already underway. A rapid shift to >2°C is expected. System change!

Expect "faster than expected", like all climate-breakdown related? Some suggest the looming El Niño might temporarily raise the global mean temp to +1.5°C. I don't understand the "temporarily" bit, because with feedbacks kicking in where is the cooling effect gonna come from?

Additional CO2 in atmosphere has boosted farm yields over past four decades. It is most beneficial in hot, arid climates, where subsistent agriculture is practiced, such as in the Sahel.
