2. The map is from a New Scientist article +10 years ago. The annotations (and green areas) paint an absurdly positive picture of utter catastrophe. this map is barely readable
The map makes it sound as though it will be easy to transition to high density housing and agriculture in Siberia etc - no mention of civil wars, death of displaced people etc. Maybe they're trying to avoid being 'alarmist' but imo they've ended up saying it's all going to be ok
I do find the idea that New Zealand could suddenly be filled with high rise housing quite funny. We're struggling to supply adequate housing right now, let alone to the millions of refugees in this hypothetical scenario. It would be far worse than this map implies.
Sea level rise will change the shape of continents, all will be smaller.
None of the scenarios support our still increasing human population.
World population will plateau around 2050, and be likely decreasing by the 2nd half of the century
