Had a very long & frustrating conversation last year w/friend about how her refugee grandparents never had anyone to rely on but themselves, so screw those refugees getting their few months of refugee medical assistance.
None of my ancestors came through Ellis Island. Nearly all spoke English, but still as immigrants they were poor and often relied on community help. Hell, the first thing my Mayflower ancestors did was steal corn to eat. People don't know their own history.
They didnt steal corn, they almost died because none of the seeds they brought would grow in the soil on the northern east cost. The natives saw this and tought them how to grow corn. Ya know, get a fish, eat that day, learn how to fish, eat foever. Go learn some history yourself
