in the 12 months ending July 2022, 345 million appointments were recorded as being delivered by GPs compared to 310 million appointments recorded in the 12 months ending July 2019. This equates to a 35 million increase in appointments recorded as delivered over a 12 month period

Whilst GP practices don’t have big machines to run we do need electricity - our phone systems, medical records and prescribing (electronic and paper systems) all@are plugged to the mains. Not sure how we can function if the lights are turned off.

General practice delivered 26.5m appointments this August - 13.3% above the level seen in the same month in 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic, analysis of official data show.

Thank you Andy - train guard @9.06 - for your help with me and other passengers struggling with heavy luggage (and for me, my Brompton). Little acts of kindness make such a difference

Sadly - if we lose general practice and the care we provide > 300 million times per year will leave patients floundering, with fragmented care & far longer waits. We have to protect general practice to protect the NHS, patients and the public purse.

Narrative is often ‘NHS isn’t working’. Just think how many of us have received text to book our Covid jab, made an appointment on line- convenient in place & time for us, received text reminder & then vaccinated. All for no on-cost, no hassle. That’s the NHS working

On a typical day in NHS GPs 1.3 million people are seen by General Practice (45% have requested to be seen on that day). Please don’t tell us we’re not working hard.

Not sure there is an ‘access’ problem in general practice. We’re actually seeing (across all modalities) more patients today & doing more for them than ever before. The problem is the capacity we have to deliver the care we want to for our patients.

Last time I did was during 2012 Olympics. What a mess our political leaders have got us in. It feels as if it’s still a big game to them. Strikes everywhere. Disparity growing. Food & fuel hunger looming. Yet we seem to be offered empty promises & no solutions.

Surrey GP took her own life after her job 'became overwhelming' | GPonline>so sad. Please contact ⁦⁩ if you need support for mental health issues. GPs are struggling to deliver the care they want to for their patients.

I wish media and others would stop this narrative that GPs work only part time. We’re not. More than half of our work is out side the consulting room (just as with other medics) - R&D, training, running clinical teams, home visiting, working in other clinical area and so on.

We need to create a world wide movement to support the (eroding) rights of women across the world. This has to be the urgent agenda for us all, now. When mothers die everyone suffers.
