Anyway, it's all just identity politics

I find it entirely believable that Sanders himself didn't know about the allegations in this article. But there's no way he and top aides didn't know about the online abuse, because I heard from some of them.

Don't know why Sanders and his top lieutenants didn't publicly call for greater comity amongst those toxic supporters. Maybe it wouldn't have changed the actual abuse. But it would have helped perception. Then and now.

I hope Bernie uses this moment to not only reckon with the irl problems within his 2016 campaign, but speaks against abusive online behavior in his name. It will alienate a few prominent supporters, who don't like to be called to account on this front. But would be great for Left

Has Mother Jones abandoned its lifelong identity as a firecely progressive/lefty magazine? Attack after attack on Senator Sanders.
-
I think it's entirely fair to criticize failings of any campaign. And this was a big one.
-
I understand, but it's one in a line of many evidently biased anti-Sanders pieces, images, and comments. Misogyny is rampant in every corner of our society -- I've dealt it with personally on a daily basis my entire career -- even at home. I don't believe it's a "Sanders issue."

Progressive is not a Bernie TM.

Tell that to the workers of
#McDonalds
#Amazon#Disney and soon#Walmart! Who got them#15hr? It wasn't HILLARY CLINTON, OBAMA, or PELOSI. No one in MY PARTY even TRIED on a NATIONAL LEVEL to get WORKERS an OPPORTUNITY at a LIVING WAGE. Y DO U KEEP DIVIDING US?#Sanders2020

Who would have guessed that a media prostitute who is paid for smearing progressives would write something like this?
-
We don't need to throw sex workers under the bus to acknowledge
@ClaraJeffery's shortcomings. Most sex workers do not carry water for the rich, and almost all of them do more for society than Clara does. -
I made sure to say “media prostitutes” for the very reason that you point out. Selling sex is a whole lot more honorable than what she is selling.
-
Yeah, I've done exactly the same thing. My calculus around contributing to the stigma of the word vs. using it for (real) rhetorical effect is changing, but we really should ask some S(J?)Ws. No doubt!

In what neoliberal nightmare of a world do you live in? Why are you as editor of
@MotherJones dedicating so much time on spreading lies about Bernie Sanders? Pathetic really -
Because they want the corrupt part of the party to keep power even if they reelect Trump to do it. We need to move on without them. They are as bad as Trumpers.

Where is David Corn at now, you ask? (Looks at notes) uh... Mother Jones... he still works at Mother Jones...

@ClaraJeffery doesn’t have shit to say about that, does she? -
Nope. No, she doesn't.
-
And of course, she’ll continue to try to be part of the current Corporate Media onslaught against Bernie, and she’ll continue doing one of the poorer jobs of all of them.
-
Oh man, get your own house in order before you talk shit, Clara.
