OK, folks, this was one of the most depressing things I've heard in my years of interviewing TV stars. Jean Smart gave an amazing performance as a crime boss in Season 2 of Fargo. I asked how it changed her career. It did not. She told me she didn't get one offer. See below.

What happened for Jean Smart after Fargo? “I was very proud of it. But afterwards? Not a job offer! Not a one. For over a year. I figure it is because of how I have looked, that I have aged. I thought you know what, if I was a guy, I would have had some job offers.”

Meanwhile, because Americans only hear about Parisian garbage when it piles up due to a strike…

7/ Instead of San Francisco’s insane 3-year multi million dollar search for trashcan design, which we STILL don’t have and which might cost $5k each… Paris had these: @MattHaneySF

Newsom: 71% of the GDP in America are blue counties. Progressive policies. Seven of the top ten dependent states are your states. We’re subsidizing your states because of your policies

Below is a much longer thread on the incredible public transit/bike infrastructure/street cleaning in Paris. This year: currently on a bus that came right in front of our hotel, straight shot to high speed train we will take to the Loire. We can have this too, America.

1/ Now flying through France at approx 200 mph. Total cost for me and kid to get from Paris to Rome, 177 €. America, we are doing it all wrong. 🧵

But Brexiters said that Brits just needed to fill out a form to work in the EU! Could it possibly be that they don't have a fucking clue about immigration law?

Brexit has quantifiably destroyed the opportunity for many UK workers to work in EU holiday jobs. This news came out on Partygate Day, so presumably most will have missed it. independent.co.uk/travel/news-an

The fact that puts you in truly terrible chat bot hell, that the UX of their support pages suck, that their customer service desk is only open on US east coast bankers hours, that their ticket elevation system is a joke… Plan to travel abroad a lot? Switch.

Lost a day of travel—and trip to Versailles—to ’s horrible European service. And while a few nice women with them battled for hours to figure out how to fix, a trip to Apple Store in Paris did so immediately. When asked what US provider, the eye rolls were pretty epic.

Isn’t it kinda everyone’s dream to be interviewed about their worst ex for a national audience the way Lillian McEwen was for this ep of Slow Burn? Just getting to drop in stuff on how he was raggedy and a weird dancer and they knew him at the adult video store? I'm happy for her

To understand who Clarence Thomas was in the '80s, you need to hear from the women who knew him best. On the latest Slow Burn, @byjoelanderson speaks with Thomas' ex-girlfriend, Lillian McEwen, who shares insights into who Thomas was, and who he became: link.chtbl.com/ndpncijN

They felt equally as shallow when NYT was perpetuating tech hype. Please go deeper! We need that outside reporting and all the Time *could* bring to the current issues at hand. But it’s a quarter inch deep and so disappointing, sorry.

Downtown SF’s problems are real but it is fucking ridiculous that this piece doesn’t note that Westfield previously announce it was pulling back from ALL US malls, and similar collapse or retail nationwide is only glancingly referenced.

San Francisco’s downtown has seen a mass exodus of retailers in recent months, and this week a mall owner has decided to walk away from a prominent property. Market analysts say the city still has a ways to go before the hemorrhaging stops. nyti.ms/3qIbXjW

“TN BOTTOM 10 IN FUNDING PER STUDENT” 👇🏽😳 While & the claim we fully fund our schools as they steer taxpayer dollars to private school vouchers and privately run charters. And the TCAP retention. scheme is the latest attack.
Quote Tweet
New census data ranks TN in the bottom 10 states for education funding per student. TN spends $10,507 per student, while the national average is $14,347 @FOXNashville
