This is insanity. The only way to kill 10,000,000 in ten days is to nuclear carpet bomb Afghanistan. Trump actually says that he has a plan to do that but “I don’t want to.” This is a level of amorality and unreality that even Nixon’s Vietnam slaughter never touched.

No only does it matter, you can do well in the ratings by covering substance. I don’t think viewers want arguing panels of non-expert talking heads and the ratings would tell me I’m right.

I condemn the President’s decision and I’ll continue using every tool at my disposal to bring accountability to his foreign policy, including closing the loopholes that led to this arms sale fiasco in the first place.

  4. Trump’s veto of the bipartisan Congressional ban on arms sales for the Saudi war in Yemen is immoral, dangerous and will cost the lives of hundreds of innocents. There is no emergency that justifies the negation of Congress’ constitutional role. Trump puts profits over security.

Shockingly, "most Iranians seem to be dismissive" of the US's "our anti-Muslim bigot president pulled out of the nuke deal and reimposed crippling sanctions that make it harder to get medicine for your kids but no seriously we're on your side" message.

It turns out that 10 million is the urban population of Afghanistan. Trump may be relying on an actual plan drawn up by some genocidal maniac that calls for the destruction of that nation in order to “save” it. This deserves further serious investigation.

The good news: as far as I can tell, there are only 4 people in America who don't want to extend the New START arms control treaty with Russia. The bad news: They are the President, his National Security Advisor, his top staffer and Senator Tom Cotton.

👇 Defense spending now = nearly 60% of discretionary federal spending. With both parties conflating military spending w patriotism, few question the wisdom of this. Overseas, it means the military often supplants diplomats. At home, a long list of needs & a sobering deficit.

The level of military spending in the new budget deal is obscene. Progressives have stood by and let this happen.
