My stolen account by leif_9141__hank has gone from 249 followers to 224. Keep unsubscribing so they end up with nothing. I’m finding @instagram makes it difficult fix an account hack/takeover.

i’ve had my instagram account stollen twice. the ONLY way to get it back is to find a facebook employee friend to help you. they can file an internal IT request. once that’s done your account will be back almost immediately. without that you are unlikely to get the account.

I basically lost it and am now rebuilding it. It wasn’t that big but it is a pain.

mine was stolen twice by posing as me to my cell phone company. they requested a sim change. once they had control of my phone they requested new password from instagram.

1. remove cell phone number from instagram. 2. request cell company put extra security verification on sim changes. 3. make instagram account a “business account” — it connects you to differs support folks. 4. connect instagram account to a facebook account.

also: be very very cautious of people like me offering advice about this. once the sim is swapped the only way they can get a password reset is by you requesting it. so someone will offer “advice” that your account is compromised and tell you to change your password right away

accounts are regularly stolen and resold on “dark web” sites for their followers, for a desirable account name, or for use in other schemes FB seems to know about the issues but largely ignored them. But i’m told (unverified) that business accounts are given more support.

That is so awesome to hear. That is a big reason why I make those videos. It’s why I get frustrated when I see stats like this in @Youtube showing their not being seen by a younger audience. Thankfully @TeamYouTube is looking into it.pic.twitter.com/JxDkZyisrP
