Chairman @ChuckGrassley first held a hearing on this issue in June 2000. He later urged @HHSGov to improve incentives to meet quality care standards for dialysis in Medicare beneficiaries. Medicare spends $79 billion annually on people with kidney disease.

A recent priority of Grassley’s was the extension of "Independence at Home" in the CHRONIC CARE Act, passed in 2017. It allows those receiving kidney dialysis at home a monthly check-in with their doctor via telehealth instead of having to go to the doctor’s office or hospital.
