The way Americans treated the Native Americans in the Black Hawk War/1832 is shameful. My family is from the area these tribes were expelled from. A very similar story is being repeated in ND & LA. The Republican Party is behaving unfairly against our Indigenous Peoples. Shame.

More Iowa history: Iowa fought for the Union in the Civil War, with 76,534 serving (the highest per capita of any State!) & 13,169 dead. Iowa was also instrumental with the Underground Railroad.
