There’s no reason Trump can’t withdraw the nomination and put forward a different candidate with less of a paper trail who is easier to vet. A more moderate pick would sail through as well. I bet Merrick Garland would say yes.

I spoke to 2 people in your office this week while in DC. I requested that any documents that anyone on the Judiciary Committee requests be made available for review before a hearing by the Judiciary Committee is held.

They indicated that you would be amenable to that request, and that you want this to be an open, transparent process. I see today that the National Archives day that they will not be able to complete review of the documents YOU requested until late October.
