      From the Inspector, I use 2x CMD+Shift+d to Dock/Undock to go to the tab. From the document, I use CMD+Option+i to bring back the dev tools

      You're right, when the DevTools window is on same desktop as the tab (usually the case) it returns to its position

      When the DevTools window is on a separate desktop, the DevTools window loses its position, though
