@sundress you built this, correct? Can you give us a summary on how the contrast ratio is computed? My guess is that it's calculated between color and background-color properties, either of which may be inherited. Is that right? Is opacity also factored in? --- @kaycebasques

The background colour is computed based on hit testing and style computation (unfortunately by the time paint occurs we've lost reference to what element is being painted), and you can see it in the 'Aa' preview, as

There is also the option to use the eyedropper you can see in this screenshot to pick a background colour. If there's an image background, the eyedropper is automatically enabled; but also sometimes we can't compute a background colour, or the hit testing gets it wrong somehow.
