It's not new. Who do you think the pick up artists, Nazis, junk philosophers, and political parties taken over by alleged conservatives have been praying on all this time? Pre 2008 I had a young co worker tell me about his online gurus/groups. Sad has become hateful with help.

From what I've seen the "advice" they get is designed to make their social and mental issues worse. A lot of it was treat them like shit and they will flock to you. That's why those bums get protested when they come to town.

I'm old enough to remember Dec 6th very well and how distressing it was. As I'm sure is true of most women, I am well acquainted with the undercurrent of misogyny that is always there. But the threat is usually from someone we know. 1/

We can pretend that it unique to our own circumstances & that it's not so pervasive within society & that we can seek safety somewhere. With a very public, violent, random attack, I feel like this acting out has wide societal support & there is no safe haven. 2/
