The work Marly & I did together at ESPN is some of what I'm proudest of from my 10 years there. She has had to fight for every inch of her career. The apology was merited, but coverage everywhere of baseball is immensely poorer without her on the beat.

I know Marly well, she’s a good friend and over the years has had to stand up for herself far more than any non-Latina reporter, which doesn’t always make you popular. She’s apologized for inappropriate language - but she’s been good at her job because she is tough & aggressive. twitter.com/AndrewMarchand…

Erxleben kicked a 67-yard FG (off a tee) in college, but in the NFL he mostly wound up punting; he had half as many completed passes as FGs made on his pro career. In 1982 he had as many TD passes as Saints backup QB Guido Merkens. That's the Russell Erxleben highlight reel.

Rep. Zephyr is a Montana state legislator and transgender person who has been silenced by the GOP-controlled state house for speaking out against anti-transgender legislation.

The Montana GOP is refusing to let me speak for the rest of the legislative session. I was elected to represent my 11,000 constituents. No silencing tactics will deter me from advocating for my community, my district, and all Montanans. My light is on and I am ready to speak.

My great-grandfather's team was the NY Giants; he lived in Peekskill, was close to Bill Terry, never stopped thinking of Mel Ott as his favorite player. When the Giants left, he stopped following MLB; as he said, his team had left him. I know how that feels now more than ever.

How did Giants alternate player rep Alex Cobb think things were handled today with the delay/postponement? “It was terrible,” he said. Team got as much info as the fans and media, so not much. Also was watching it not rain.

This is of course uniquely shocking, but there were multiple instances of Trump judicial nominees failing to disclose problematic writing. This is yet another area that requires reform by the Senate Judiciary Cmtee. The questionnaire purports to be signed under penalty of perjury.

Scoop: Judge Kacsmaryk in 2017 submitted a law review article criticizing protections for trans people. Ahead of his judicial nomination, he removed his name and swapped in two others. Nominees are required to disclose all publications to the Senate. washingtonpost.com/politics/2023/

There is something profounfly unserious about long-term planning in baseball if the repeated instinct is "let's move/expand into arid-region cities with dubious water resources!" during a megadrought.
