X-Com is one of those games which is really educational on how probability really works. Had a lot of good conversations with friends about that; glad to see Battletech doesn’t seem to take the easy way out.

Yeah, RNG does what it wants. If you want more consistency, give yourself more chances.

Oh nice, so then there is an actual role for light mechs or does it become a rush to heavy mech platforms? I am currently living battletech dreams vicariously through your twitter feed.

they're good for scouting and harassment early, but you'll eventually want to use a medium or heavy in that role

It feels good to me. When it’s not "fair", it still feels like rolling dice and getting a streak. The mission that killed my latest playthrough felt like starting with bad luck, then getting a hot streak as Glitch took out an entire lance on her own.

Compared to XCOM I feel like those misses are clearer. You understand more why a miss happened (likely a bad RNG) VS a 90% that miss for no visible reason. (Feeling like I'm butting in your threads all the time Chris, sorry)
