Regardless, even if this person posted first to forums, I'm mostly of the personal belief that companies shouldn't publicly shame users.

a public explanation can lack the nuance that goes into decision making. and people will try to argue/talk circles around the logic.

i don't think there's a good one-size-fits-all answer to this. largely depends on existing community and type of platform.

Problem is that obviously doesn't scale, but that's also ultimately what ToS boils down to on a lot of the big public systems.

I think shaming works in the right context, but it's very hard to hit that context, and too easy to make it worse.
