So I like My Hero Academia and JoJo for two entirely different reasons, and it's kind of funny.

My Hero Academia is totally serious - great character development, writing, dialogue, intelligent battle scenes, the whole bit.

It feels like solid people sitting down to make solid work, and they're *good* at it. Like really really good. The craftsmanship you notice.

And then there's JoJo, which is pure spectacle and I love it. Like cranking the knob to eleven and then ripping it off because it got stuck.

Subtlety? In JoJo? Subtlety is for fucking amateurs, here's a toad getting punched because we're gonna punch a fucking toad, ya dig?

We're gonna send the main character into a volcano, and then into orbit, and then he'll survive the landing because fuck you that's why.

And the thing is, it's amazing how well it works. I'm watching a dog getting thrown like a Nolan Ryan fastball and thinking "yup, that fits"

And there's just as much effort put into JoJo, you can tell, but it's a totally different kind of effort. A riotous explosion of wtfuckery.

I dunno, I just think it's interesting how the craftsmanship in great art, both serious and absurd, is so often the same, and truly rare.
