So, cars. They have tires, considered a consumable item that degrades over time and requires both maintenance and eventual replacement.

On the other hand, asphalt roads are a non-consumable item. They last an extremely long time, and can be replaced/resurfaced all at once.

Why are we making individual drivers and society deal with replacing so many disparate rubber tires when the solution is obvious?

Tires should be made out of asphalt, and roads should be made out of rubber. This way can take advantage of economies of scale.
