@PaulCharchian Don't go for hang time at all. Drive a low liner away from the returner that goes maybe 30 in the air and then rolls 15.

@ChrisWarcraft Is the punter more likely to get a favorable roll on a low line drive punt?5 réponses 0 Retweet 0 j'aime -

@PaulCharchian You've seen punters and kickers playing "catch" by linedriving it to each other? Exact same principle.2 réponses 0 Retweet 0 j'aime -

@ChrisWarcraft Sounds like downside is bigger, right: A) you don't get the roll, B) your 30-yard kick is actually 20, C) returner gets to it5 réponses 0 Retweet 0 j'aime -

@PaulCharchian trying for hang time than it is to mis-hit a low liner (I'd say 8/10 difficulty vs. 5/10).1 réponse 0 Retweet 0 j'aime -

@ChrisWarcraft Well, it seems like the obvious choice is to try the "line drive and roll" approach. Does the coverage strategy change?1 réponse 0 Retweet 0 j'aime -

@PaulCharchian No, it's exactly like covering a directional kick. Just need everyone to remember where it's going, and the punter executing.1 réponse 0 Retweet 0 j'aime -

@ChrisWarcraft Scenario: the play call is to line drive to the left. But, you see the returner cheat left. Are you stuck punting left?2 réponses 0 Retweet 0 j'aime
@PaulCharchian Unless you have a way to audible out of it (which the PP certainly can do if you practice it), yes. The risk you take.
