One of the reasons I’m never shy about talking money here is that it’s one of the biggest social taboos we have holding us back as a society. You *deserve* to know how much you’re making, how much other people are making, and whether or not that comparison is fair.

One of the biggest weapons management has against labor is pitting labor against each other to fight over scraps while management walks away with the entire meal. We need transparency in wages in all sectors of society, and we can’t be ashamed to talk about it.

This is also why whenever the NFL complains that teams are losing money during CBA negotiations, and the PA asks them to open their books to prove it, they never do. Wage transparency only helps workers.

Unrelated and I don't feel the need to get into your own contract details but from guaranteed money deals what % (assume state income tax of ~ 7%) do NFL players take home? Do agents get a cut from their weekly game checks?

you have to pay the state tax in whatever state the game is played in, you can probably work out an average tax, but it’ll vary based on your state for home games and scheduling.

Close. In-season games are based off where you play, but the guaranteed signing bonus is based off your state of residence (CA in my case, so not great for tax purposes). Your agent sends you a bill at the end of the season based on how much you made that year.
