ACS extremely lacks a baseline "In this game your goal is to [X] by doing [Y]" and I think that might be because it's obvious to its native audience

from some googling the answer seems to be "You set up a monastery-city to support your inner disciples as they... meditate and train to do ??something involving their golden cores??"

i am not certain what "cultivation" and "golden cores" are in this context but i strongly suspect that they're genre conventions, in the same way that "adventure" and "dungeon" have obvious and multifaceted meaning for me

Okay. AFAICT, the premise of ACS is that you build a base of outer disciple pawns to support inner disciples, who are mythic heroes who get superpowers from meditation and study. Inners then go on adventures outside the base to get more stuff for further meditation and study.

Does it do anything differently enough in the genre to be worth picking up?
