They offered The Jungle as an optional reading list choice in about ninth grade or so and as thick as it was, I was the only one willing to read it. Anyway, I’m a socialist now.

Maybe just as much as I love Kafka as an writer, I haven’t seen any wisdom or poetry in his work that could even approach Baldwin. Again, I’m not that smart I may just be missing the point?
