(We freed the sparrow and it flew off, definitely had a ragged wing and looked like it lost a quill, but it was able to fly so hopefully it does okay)

Get mosquito bits. They deal with fungus gnats at the source and completely safe and a million times less messy.

we get those gnats sometimes, they lay eggs in the soil so one thing that has worked for us is removing the top bit of soil and putting a thin layer of sand on top.https://homeguides.sfgate.com/safest-pesticide-use-plants-kill-gnats-100322.html …

I had the annoying little flies in a houseplant once. I went with the fumigation cans that you can buy at your local Big Box Home Store. It worked, but it’s hell to try to do that when you have to do rooms separately due to having multiple pets.
