Chris, they upped UI to $600 a week for a long time! That measures up well, unless I’m missing something?

Serious question. It was $2400 a month unless I’m wrong? Is it not enough here in CA? Or are other countries doing relatively more? Or is the issue more a long term thing?

Me too. I’m not acting in bad faith. Help me with the particulars?

The bill that just passed is a one time payment of $600. The bill back in May was a one time payment of $600. It works out to something like $2.53 a day in aid from our federal government. If you can live off that, then please share with the class.

Every other developed country paid their people thousands of dollars *every month* in order to take care of them, and hey, look, they have the virus under control and their economies are recovering (the Dow is not the economy).

The CARES act gave most individuals $1200, and it increased unemployment benefits by an extra $600. That is thousands of dollars a month! It did only run until the end of July. And I certainly hear you on having the virus under control.

*$600 a week I’m here in the US too, and I’m long time fan of your willingness to speak out on matters. It just feels disingenuous when people keep saying all we did was give people $1200 to survive for months. It’s not true.
