This is something that never ceases to amuse me btw. If you had a QB coach who didn’t know the fundamentals of throwing a ball, the fanbase would lose their shit, and he’d probably never be hired. Yet you don’t have to know anything at all about kicking to coach special teams!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't special teams coach mainly just work with coverage and blocking schemes, and trickery? Seems that is all you hear about special teams coaches are their coverage units and returns. Would hope at least someone would coach kicking.

You’re correct. The only requirement to get the ST job is to know how to implement some schemes. Knowing the fundamentals of kicking is not.
