Wild that the same people screeching “defund the police is too aggressive wOrDs MaTtEr” are the same people who don’t understand that “defund” is the conservative position. We understand words matter. That’s why we’re not saying “abolish,” because it’s entirely justified.

I get the semantics on this specific issue. But the word itself as defined by the lords of words is to withdraw any funding from. Just stating why it’s confusing and requires too much education on the position.

A lot of people I know in Philadelphia mean bring funding to zero when they say defund. This is part of the problem with this though, different people mean radically different things.

The last guy I have this conversation with literally insisted that "defund the police" meant "abolished the police", which is why he was a strong proponent and supporter of that phrasing.
