Man, I played college ball. At my peak I was 6'3" 275 and ran a 5.1 40. And I'm wasn't even CLOSE to being in some of those players *orbits* in terms of athleticism. Not even in the same fucking galaxy. There is a HUGE Gap.

One HS soccer camp I had one of the two best times in a dribbling course. One of the coaches came in and blew that time off the map. He was a reserve for the Ecuador MNT. Imagine being Messi or Neymar or Tobin Heath.

One of the guys on my club soccer team growing up went on to play for the Mexican national team for a few years and then the MLS, and I *hated* having to try and defend him in practice. We actually still play together in an adult league and he can still make people look stupid.

People don't see the gap because they've never really gone up against a truly elite athlete. Even as a very good athlete the gap between good-elite is immense. I had a friend that made it into the pros until injuries derailed him and he was nearly my size and ran a 4.45.
