You can also argue (and I would) that Vinatieri also deserves to be in the hall of fame for his performance in pressure situations (and I think he’ll make it sooner rather than later). When it came to clutch in important moments, the vast majority of his career he was the guy.

The difference between Vinatieri and Tucker is that you weren’t going to go to Vinatieri on a 64yarder to win the Super Bowl. A 53yarder, sure. He’ll drain it for you. Tucker’s the guy you give the 64yarder chance to, with a legit thought he’ll make it.

If he doesn’t make the Hall of Fame, why even have one? He’s been the best at his position for how long.

I've gotten to cover some pretty good NFL kickers in Detroit: Eddie Murray, Jason Hanson and Matt Prater, but Tucker gives you Prater's distance with Hanson's accuracy.

That’s an excellent comparison

One of my friends was at one of my regular bars in Baltimore during a winter, and Tucker was walking in, holding the door open for someone behind him, but they weren't coming in fast enough, so my friend yelled at him to "close the f-ing door!"

Making everyone else who knew who was walking in cringe, but my non-football fan friend was just mad Tucker was making the bar cold.
