That was an interesting scheme by Cincinnati on the punt with their left side gunner. Putting him in motion like that makes it a lot harder for the double team to jam him up, and starting out way wide means he’ll likely end up over the ball after releasing downfield.

Here's something I always wondered. Both gunners are double teamed. Why don't we see more fakes with direct snap to upback? Punting team outnumbers receiving 8-6 near the ball. Should be easy play to run.... If they dont double team, go ahead and kick. What am I missing?

Generally your protection guys are fast backup linebackers, safeties, running backs, and maaaaaybe a tight end or two. They’re not great at clearing a hole, so you really have to make sure you know which gaps the rushers are going to hit, otherwise you’re going nowhere.
