I feel bad for the dev team that worked on this. It looks live they did a great job on it. I imagine their horror as they read JK's twitter feed during development.

I wonder what kind of contract the developers are working under. Could they announce that you can play as trans and/or non-conforming genders? And if they could/did would that be a net gain or loss from a PR perspective?

It's mostly owned by Warner Brothers. I imagine she only gets a residual while they retain most creative control and decides what to do with the property

Serious question because I've always had people shit on me for bringing it up- why is it not the case for Lovecraft media? Is it simply because Lovecraft was a racist back then and Rowling is a bigot and alive? Why is it ok for ppl to choose when to separate art from the artist

It actually is a case for Lovecraft media these days. There are a lot of people who talk about - hell, there’s even a show on HBO titled “Lovecraft Country” that’s explicitly about racism
