The tl;dr is - Central California is very likely to be flooded in our lifetime, ranging from half the state to its entire length. - The chances of chemical spills and pollutants spreading are extremely high. - We are completely unprepared for when it happens.

And the reason why that’s bad, apart from displacing/killing the people living there, is that a significantly large chunk of our nation’s food is grown in the Central Valley. I’m talking 50%-90% of certain crops.

I was born and raised in Modesto and never heard of this until I was like 30. It's very scary and just another example of how the devastation of the Valley's ecosystem will come back to haunt everyone.

Bro, I should get you and my Dad together. He was with LA county flood control for 30+ years. California fucking *floods* on the regular, just not as humans see it based on our life spans.
