Couple things. First, it’s a lot easier to hit the sweet spot on a soccer ball (since, ya know, it’s round and all). In addition, it was probably a dropkick (volley right after the ball bounces up) which gives the ball backspin causing it to travel in the air further.

Third, a 50 yard punt is actually traveling 65 yards in the air (since in American football the minus 15 yards from being behind the line of scrimmage isn’t added in). Finally, punts are deliberately hit for optimal hangtime as well as distance in order to get coverage downfield.

It’s actually very easy to hit an 80-90 yard punt distance-wise if you’re an NFL caliber punter, it’s just going to be a low line drive that is immediately returned for at least 50-60 yards (netting you 20-30 at most), and most likely returned for a touchdown.
