Annnnnnnd the next speaker is complaining that kids need facial expressions to learn, and that kids need to be touched. We’re back on the crazy train.

-
Next speaker is going on about herd immunity and that “being locked down in a constrained space is so deadly to children” when talking about home, but then doesn’t finish the thought to the school environment.
Afficher cette discussion -
Just claimed that kids should not wear masks because if they wear masks improperly they would be more at risk from the virus and I just can’t even.
Afficher cette discussion -
Another speaker with a mask!
Afficher cette discussion -
Masked speaker is talking about her sister who is immuno-compromised from donating bone marrow, and her life will be in direct jeopardy if she has to go back and teach.
Afficher cette discussion -
Next speaker is the guy who led the Pledge of Allegiance, claims there is no direction from Sacramento, everything is in limbo, wants the kids to be back out playing sports, claims it will make them healthier and build up their immune system.
Afficher cette discussion -
Wants the Board to say it’s okay for kids to go back out and play sports again. He can go fuck himself.
Afficher cette discussion -
As a high school coach it is absolutely negligent to start pushing for youth sports to open back up. This is maddening.
Afficher cette discussion -
Now we’re into Board business, end of public speakers. Board president forgot to adopt agenda at start of meeting, so now they’re rewinding time.
Afficher cette discussion -
Board is trying to cover its ass by saying their white paper isn’t legally binding but just an investigation into the issues. Basically says that if teachers don’t want to go back to school then that’s their choice, makes no mention of paying them.
Afficher cette discussion -
Board member Gomez (only one wearing a mask!) is now bringing up the fact that the Board has disallowed any discussion between community and board, points out multiple things brought up lack citation.
Afficher cette discussion -
Is currently ripping on the Board’s white paper (as she should, because it’s absolute junk science).
Afficher cette discussion -
Points out three different youth camps closed over the weekend that closed due to kids getting Covid. She is bringing the business.
Afficher cette discussion -
Says “we CAN teach kids how to be responsible.” Goes down a laundry list of things we already teach kids as parents. Points out flaws of distance learning also relate to not preparing teachers appropriately with training and equipment.
Afficher cette discussion -
Rest of the Board is basically ignoring Gomez. Bunch of wankers.
Afficher cette discussion -
Board President Ken Williams, a practicing surgeon, claims that school opening decisions should be decided on a local basis, not a statewide basis, and since LA County has a lot of cases but OC doesn’t, everything is fine. As we all know, no one ever uses the 405 to travel.
Afficher cette discussion -
Trustee Shaw claiming that there will be online options for those who want and that temperature checks will be performed regularly, it’s not business as usual. Good thing there haven’t been any asymptomatic cases of Covid!
Afficher cette discussion -
Now says there will be extra cleaning, does not say if cleaning staff will be paid more (spoiler: they won’t).
Afficher cette discussion -
Board member Barke says “parents are clearly equipped to make the best decisions for their children,” and apparently she was not watching the last hour of comments.
Afficher cette discussion -
Board member Gomez saying that parents should be educating their children and not just project their own fears, says Board did not share enough opposing views and that there are flaws in the report.
Afficher cette discussion -
Only one opposing vote to white paper (Gomez). Moving on to resolution supporting law enforcement, to which I can say go fuck yourselves you boot licking shits. That one passes unanimously.
Afficher cette discussion -
Oh fuck me, now they’re talking about helping charter schools because they’re not getting enough funding from the state budget. They literally just closed an elementary school in HB.
Afficher cette discussion -
This Board needs to get voted out ASAP. What the fuck. Closing public schools and shifting the funds to charter schools is governance for the privileged, not the public.
Afficher cette discussion -
Gomez is asking what “financial support” means in particular (she’s nobody’s fool)
Afficher cette discussion -
Gomez now pointing out that vendors are price gouging on PPE, and if they want schools to reopen it’s going to cost a LOT, and that giving money to charter schools ain’t it
Afficher cette discussion -
None of the rest of the Board want to touch that particular budgetary fact
Afficher cette discussion -
Okay, looks like we’re getting into legislative minutiae, I’m calling it a night and making myself a drink. Stay safe, wear a mask, register to vote, go vote.
Afficher cette discussion -
Oh wait, as I was leaving, President Ken Williams wants people to stop sending him angry emails about the governor closing sports programs. What an absolutely self-absorbed little turd.
Afficher cette discussion -
Lol, sorry, one more. President Ken Williams saves the best for last. Over 2500 emails were sent on the school opening issue to the Board, isn’t going to put the actual content of the emails into the minutes but only the last name of the submitter.
Afficher cette discussion -
Gomez is pointing out that their job is to read all the correspondence and make sure people’s voices are heard.
Afficher cette discussion -
Gomez wants them to figure out a mechanism so that people can actually be heard, because right now they aren’t. Boyd (secretary) points out that the website says comments will be read, but they are not actually doing so.
