@ChrisWarcraft took your recommendation to the world for Monster Train. Just bought it, Love it. I was rank 1 in the world in CardHeroes for a while if you ever played that.
Zero costing a spell plus Holdover can allow to do some fun stuff, but it does count as one of your draws for the next turn. I generally tend to thin out as much of the starting cards as I can do I can run 1-2 combos reliably, you usually won’t get more. Imps are a trap.

As you hit the later levels, you’ll need a way to reliably take out weaker back line monsters that hit hard, while still being able to kill the frontline beefy absorbers. Multistrike with flat added is good for this, so is trample, direct damage targeted spells work well too.

I’ve found my winning runs come in the following flavors: - overwhelming damage with a multistrike creature and a tank to shield it - stacking frostbite (there’s a card that doubles the amount on a creature) - thorns plus regen - recursion (once you unlock the Melted)
