If you’re wanting me to argue that the government spent that money wisely I’m sorry but it’s not happening Christopher.

But that’s the thing - we’re still perfectly capable of clawing that money back from corporations and redistributing it directly to people. All reopening is going to do is get tens of thousands needlessly killed.

We’re not at all capable of that. It’s a nice thought but you and I both know it’s not realistic what so ever.

It’s absolutely something we can do, all it requires is the will to do so

But working in a vacuum of that money can’t be taken back we have to start opening IMO

No, we don’t. We print the money. We can print more.

What you’re saying is stock portfolios are more important than human lives, which is pretty fucked up.

Honest question: If printing more money or demanding it be distributed to the people wasn’t an option what solution would you think is best?

Couple flaws with your initial premise. The first, and most important, is that there is no situation where we can’t print more money that humans exist in. Money is a social construct. It’s an abstraction of time owed for a task. We are literally the only reason money is a thing.

If we wanted to take care of people and keep them fed and sheltered, there’s nothing stopping us from doing that. There’s more than enough food, there’s more than enough space. We’re not even close to exhausting the energy budget of our planet.

Second problem is tied to the first, and it’s the idea that every solution has to be tied to the idea that if someone can’t make a profit off it, how will it ever be possible? We’re actually pretty altruistic as a species. When given the choice, most people choose to help.

But if you have a bunch of assholes out there poisoning everyone’s minds with the idea of “how can we keep the stockholders happy?”, well, we end up trying to figure out how many dead is worth getting a cheeseburger and a haircut.

I couldn’t care less about the stockholders. I’m talking about the people that sell those burgers to you or do your tattoos.
