It’s just super frustrating that every iteration of FF is one where Squeenix tries to move further away from a system that wasn’t broke, and it keeps getting progressively stupider.
The big problem I have with FFVII remake is that it wants to present a turn based tactical situation, but in an action game environment that frequently cannot resolve those decisions in a satisfactory manner.

The game wants you to dodge/block in tight timing windows, but there is no active cancel. The game wants you to use directional spells and attacks on mobile enemies, but will allow a total miss if they move out of range with no targeting readjustment.

Stuns are commonplace, with no means of dismissing them, and frequently last 10-15 seconds (which is an eternity in an action style environment), and you can still be damaged during that time. It’s a bit of a hot mess is what I guess I’m trying to get at.
