yeah, it's specifically NOT a dodge, more of a "move kinda fast over there" button. the block is the real "impact move." learned that a lot later.

100% agreed. The half measure between classic JRPG and the quick pace of a Nier or Devil May Cry just feels really unsatisfying so far.

Dodging and blocking just doesn't feel like it does much, especially after many games have done it way better.

Agreed. Some battles seem just chaotic and arbitrary. It's a weird curve where you can get pinned down and die 1 attempt, then the next attempt complete it with very little effort. It's like rpg rng in an action game that says it rewards skill.

Yeah, the hold/grapple effects seem unnecessarily long, and it’s really jarring to have it happen to the character you’re controlling.
