It is remarkable how that airline seat thing illustrates a lot of people’s thinking that because you can pay to cause discomfort to others, you should be allowed to do so.

Again reclining is an option, if you have an issue with that then either purchase a seat with more legroom, take it up with the airline to change it but it’s not the fault of one who uses a readily available option. Don’t go to a loud bar if you prefer quiet

There are not always roomier seats available or the $$ to purchase them. One could just not be a dick. It’s not uncomfortable to sit without reclining. It IS painful to sit with someone reclined into you. It’s a simple, easily granted courtesy.

I think the problem with all of this is that while us poor folk fight with each other, airlines continue to try and squeeze us closer together because... profits. We’re fighting the wrong people here.

Guaranteed that, that dude who was punching her sear wouldn’t have done that shit if she was a guy

Airlines are removing the recline option (just flew Alaska: recline buttons were disabled). There is no room in coach to recline. I’m short and it’s a problem. A friend whose 6’5” and had recent knee surgery and the woman in front of him refused to “unrecline”. Why?? Cruel.

Alaska air has in turn added more leg room. Not reclining can’t effect people backs as well. If it’s an option, then it’s not cruel to shame someone to use it
