I’m not a man but I am a trans bernie supporter, getting aggressively called a male cult member by supposedly progressive people for supporting a candidate they personally don’t like gets pretty indistinguishable from everyday transphobia after a while

I would argue that me not being a man makes me not a bro regardless

Wasn’t arguing about gender. Was talking about a particularly toxic set of behaviors, primarily embraced by male supporters of Bernie, that is remarkably easy to just *not do*

are you for real saying that “ladies are bros too”

Ladies are almost never "Bernie Bros." The term refers to a particular subset of toxic supporters who are, without fail, almost always white/male/cishet and who carry toxic elements of their privilege. It's like Brogressives. The toxic masculinity is an inherent facet.

this conversation is centering around Chris referring to a woman as a Bernie Bro

No, this conversation is centered around someone who supports Bernie Sanders applying the Bernie Bro label to herself without me once mentioning her specifically by name, while I also made it very clear what I considered a Bernie Bro to be (a toxic asshole).

it doesn’t matter what you consider it when it’s clearly a gendered term purposefully used to erase minorities bud also not a she either, try and keep up

I know you’re a straight white guy but it’s really not hard to label anyone who disagrees with you on politics with a dismissive gendered term that women, poc and trans people have all rejected

Then I apologize for using that term. I was under the impression it was the standard nomenclature for toxic Bernie supporters and I won’t use it in the future.

thank you for being willing to discuss it and walk back your stance on it, it’s appreciated

Like I said, I did not mean for it to come across as a gendered/erasure thing at all. There are plenty of other ways I can make fun of toxic Bernie supporters without doing that.
